Aimpoint PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic)

The Aimpoint PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic) debuted at SHOT last week. The scope has been put together with law enforcement officers in mind. The basic optic is comparable to the Aimpoint CompM2 but with the more popular 2 MOA dot (emitter) rather than the larger 4 MOA dot. It features a QPR2 quick release mount which is also found on the military Aimpoint CompM4. With its 30,000 hour (3 - 4 year) battery life Aimpoint recommends turning it on and leaving it on. The MSRP is $440.

Aimpoint FCS12 Fire Control System

The Aimpoint FCS12 is a Fire Control System for weapons like the recoil-less Carl Gustav and Panzerfaust as well as Automatic Grenade Launchers and other support weapons. The operator aims at the target on a direct line-of-sight, which allows both eyes open. The optical axis between the eye and the target is not broken or linked by use of prisms.
The sight contains an eye safe 1550 nm LRF (Laser Range Finder), a ballistic computer with the capability to store up to 50 different ballistic algorithms, and a parallax free optical channel with unlimited eye relief.
The FCS12 compensates automatically for the ballistic drop of projectiles at measured distances, factoring in variables such as: rotational (spin) drift, propellant temperature and terrain angle.
The system consists of two separate modules — the sight and a remote grip interface which transmit commands to the sight via a wireless link. The remote grip interface is designed to control the most important functions for operating the system during combat.

The introduction of the Aimpoint® FCS12 follows after a period of intense product development and initial deliveries on a contract for the Swedish Defense Forces. The Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) placed an order with Aimpoint in April 2009 for the supply of a Fire Control System for the M/86 Carl Gustaf 84mm recoil-less rifle.
“The Aimpoint® FCS12 is a unique product on the market and development has forced Aimpoint to take a huge step in research and development in order to meet customer requirements and our own expectations,” says Aimpoint President Mr. Lennart Ljungfelt. “The Aimpoint® FCS12 implies a dramatic increase in hit probability, and reduces time used for engagement, which in turn raise the overall effectiveness of the weapon system considerably.”
The Aimpoint® FCS12 comprises a sight module with a Laser Range Finder, a ballistic computer and a state-of-the-art heads-up display as well as a wireless remote control. Despite the advanced technology and complexity of the product, operation in a combat situation is extremely user friendly and intuitive. In most cases, the operator only needs to push one button before pulling the trigger of the weapon.

Aimpoint delivers over one million M68 Close Combat Optics to U.S. Army.

Aimpoint, the originator and worldwide leader in electronic red dot sighting technology, has announced that the company’s shipments of M68 Close Combat Optics under contract to the US Army recently passed a total of one million sights. Contracts for the M68CCO have been issued to Aimpoint by the US Military since 1997, and continue with shipments as part of the latest contract for 565,000 sights awarded to the company in August, 2009.
“The continuous use of Aimpoint® sights by the US Army for the past 14 years is a great honor for our company, and passing the one million sight mark is indeed a momentous achievement” said Lennart Ljungfelt, President of Aimpoint AB. “The M68 Close Combat Optic has continued to evolve and improve over the years with feedback from our experience during use with the US Army, and we look forward to continuing to meet future requirements as they arise”.
Aimpoint® sights have been tested and chosen by the US Army following several competitive evaluations, and Aimpoint is the only manufacturer type-classified to supply the M68CCO to the US Military. The company’s products are currently in service with all branches of the US Military, and the wide variety of models available make the product suitable for nearly all infantry weapons from small arms to heavy weapons.
The M68CCO is an electronic red dot reflex sight which increases effective marksmanship, and allows the user to acquire and engage targets with increased speed and accuracy without diminishing situational awareness. The optic is extremely rugged, and the latest versions of the sight operate continuously for up to 8 years using a single AA battery.
The contract for the M68CCO is administered by the US Army Materiel Command’s Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) located at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, in close cooperation with Program Executive Office Soldier (PEO Soldier).
