Surefire MR07 Adapter Mount

The MR07 attaches to any standard rail-less 1911-type pistol with GI-type trigger guard, providing the rail necessary to mount the SureFire X Series WeaponLights. With the MR07 attached, the X Series WeaponLights can be easily slid off your pistol, carried separately, and slid on again when needed. The MR07 also allows mounting SureFire P107, P117C, P117D, W117C, and W117D WeaponLights.

The MR07 fits snugly and securely to the pistol. This lightweight, low-profile mount is slim enough to allow the pistol plus mount to fit softened GI-type holsters. May not fit custom-molded holsters. Made from very high strength 7000 series aluminum; many competition mounts are made from 6000 series, which has about half the strength. Attaches via modified slide stop and pin assembly machined from pre-hardened chrome-molybdenum steel. Pin fit is match-grade. Trigger guard locking wedge is energy absorbent polyurethane, avoiding metal-to-metal contact, and can be tightened with a cartridge rim - no hex wrench necessary. A spacer shim is provided to accommodate manufacturing variations in the trigger guard thickness (e.g. the Colt Gold Cup). Features an anti-chafing pad to prevent scoring of the dust cover.

Features
  • Secure semi-permanent mount
  • Slim design allows holstering pistol-plus-mount in many softer holsters
  • Anti-chafing pad prevents dust cover damage
  • Construction: Ultra high-strength 7000-series aluminum

SureFire HellFighter 4

Battlefield experience using the successful SureFire HellFighter (HF1) has led to the next generation heavy weapon illumina- tor—HellFighter 4 (HF4). The most significant improvement is an integral rechargeable battery that can run the HF4 at full output for 30 minutes. The integral battery not only serves as a backup to the other two power options—vehicle outlets and BA-5590 disposable batteries—but also makes the HF4 more compact and convenient to use as a handheld spotlight/searchlight.
The rail mount performs double duty as a carry handle. The rail mount itself has been modified to include both the original heavy- duty T-rail clamp and an intermediary adapter mount that permits attaching the HF4 to a Picatinny rail.
Another change is selectable output. When attached to the UH-01E power cable—which includes a new grip switch for the M2HB ma- chine gun—the operator can choose high output (3,000 lumens), low output (1,000 lumens), or strobe mode that flashes about nine times per second (9 Hz). The UH-01E power cable is backward- compatible with the original HellFighter, but does not provide high/ low output or strobe capabilities to that device. All HellFighter power cables now feature a high-strength polymer sheathing that makes them thinner, lighter, more flexible, and more durable.
Finally, the HF4 features a dual swing-open filter/cover system, al- lowing the operator to quickly choose unfiltered white light, filtered infrared illumination, or an opaque protective cover. The HF4’s reflector has also been modified to provide better beam reach and wider peripheral light for situational awareness.

  • High-output, low-output, and stobe capability from HID lamp
  • Modified reflector provides better reach and wider peripheral beam
  • Durable lightweight power cables
  • Picatinny rail adapter clamp
  • Dual swing-open filter/cover system allows quick configuration for unfiltered white light, filtered IR output, or protective cover
  • Carry handle integrated into rail mount reduces profile
  • Integral rechargeable battery provides 30 minutes of runtime at high output

Surefire tweaks High Capacity Mag; new ship date 6/30

Surefire shared some hot footage of a 100 round High Capacity Magazine function test with us. They ran 5 100-round mags back-to-back turning an M4 gas tube into a light bulb in the process. Don’t try this with your own, stock AR, though. They used a heavy-barrel, select-fire milspec Colt with a beefed up gas tube to deal with the extreme heat produced by 500 rounds of continuous fire. Watch it glow. Try this with your AR and you’ll watch the gas tube melt.
As far as the ship date of the new mags, Surefire representative Ron Canfield tells us the company has delayed both models if the HCM to make minor changes to the mags to guarantee they function in the broadest number of AR platforms possible. The new ship date is June 30, 2011.

Surefire Hi Capacity magazines

Surefire just broke cover on their high capacity magazine project this weekend. They plan to show the magazines at SHOT Show 2011. Their entry into the magazine market comes in two flavors, 60 and 100 rounds. The MAG5-100, $179, looks a bit unwieldy but the MAG5-60, $129, looks a lot less intimidating.
Derek McDonald, Surefire’s VP of Marketing, who called them “anti-ambush mags” because of the uninterrupted firepower they can provide during the critical, first 30 seconds of an ambush. He said, and later wrote in a press release, that “it takes the average soldier about 4 seconds to reload their weapon and reacquire a target. So, based on the rate of fire of a full-auto rifle, using 30-round magazines means a soldier can fire 150 rounds max in 30 seconds. But, with our 60-round mag he can fire 240 rounds in 30 seconds. And, 100-round magazine means about 300 rounds in the same time.”
The numbers are rough, but the conclusion is airtight. Over the course of a firefight, the time spent changing mags adds up. Bigger mags mean more time on target. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this premise applied to selling bigger capacity magazines, though. The Beta-Mag people made the same pitch, but the C-Mag was not reliable enough for battlefield use. Surefire’s approach does appear a lot simpler than the C-Mag.
The mags are both made from spot welded, Mil-A-8625 Type III, Class I finished, 6000 series aluminum and have nylon followers.

From Surefire:
“In the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, a soldier’s ability to respond to an attack with overwhelming force is critical. Ambushes are commonplace and the outcome of the ambush is often determined in the first 30 seconds.
Firepower and the ability to stay in the fight are key. SureFire’s High Capacity Magazines are designed to provide the war fighter with 60 or 100 rounds of ammunition in a single magazine, thereby decreasing the number of reloads a soldier must perform and increasing the number of rounds available to a soldier to engage threat targets.”
Q.   Do I have to download my magazine to seat it in the weapon with the bolt closed?
A.  No. SureFire HCMs will fit into the host weapon with the bolt closed when loaded with the maximum round count.  The design of the magazine takes into account the allowable tolerances of cartridges manufactured to NATO  and SAAMI specifications.
Q.    Will my 60 round magazine fit into my nylon gear for 30 round magazines?
A.   The SureFire MAG5-60 will fit into most nylon pouches with Velcro cover flaps intended for two 30 round magazines.   Double magazine pouches with stitched partitions may require alteration.
Q.   Will SureFire be offering nylon pouches for these magazines?
A.   Yes. Product specifics and pricing is still to be determined.
Q.    Can SureFire HCM’s be disassembled for cleaning?
A.    Yes, the SureFire HCMs can be disassembled for periodic cleaning or as required.  A punch, the tip of a cartridge or common tool can be used to remove the floor plate from the magazine body.
Q.   What dealers will have access to HCM’s?
A.   Authorized SureFire dealers in states with no high capacity regulations. Rules and processes are being developed for dealers located in states with regulations (CA, HI, IL, MD, MA, NY, OH, DC).

Surefire picks up two new SOCOM contracts

Surefire just announced Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, awarded contracts to supply USSOCOM with three lights.

The first contract, Visible Bright Light-Heavy, is $16.6m worth of Surfire’s crew served weapon mounted Hellfighter light. This is the fourth generation of the Hellfighter which has grown more compact and brighter with each generation. The Hellfighter is designed to mount co-axially on an M2 machine gun, M134 Minigun and the M240 machine gun. It puts out 3000 lumens with an HID bulb.

The second contract award is $14.9m for the Visible Bright Light-III contract which includes an indefinite number of Surefire’s M620V Scout Light and the more compact M720V Raid weapon mounted lights. These both use the Vampire head which puts out visible and IR light by rotating the light’s bezel. The use of discrete LEDs gives much better output and runtime efficiency over a system that uses filters to produce IR light.

Most Inexpensive SureFires Ever

SureFire has heard you telling that you like their products but discretionary funding is tight and have answered the call. Available starting in January, SureFire launches two new low cost lights; the G2X and 6PX.

“In spite of the tough times, our mission is to keep quality products in the hands of our customers, and keep jobs in the U.S.A.,” said SureFire CEO/Founder Dr. John Matthews. He continued, “This was a big undertaking for SureFire, and I couldn’t be more pleased with our employees who worked so hard to make this happen.”
Expect the same Made in USA SureFire quality and same lifetime guarantee. In order to mitigate costs, SureFire has taken a couple of measures. The main differences from the G2 LED and 6P LED flashlights that the series is based on are the adoption of Mil-Spec Type II anodizing instead of Type III, use of a polymer reflector instead of machined aluminum, and the head will not be removable.
Four new models will be offered. Two flashlights will be available in a single output tactical configuration, and two with a dual output for general use. The G2X features a Nitrolon® polymer body and tailcap with an aluminum bezel while the 6PX’s body components are entirely aluminum. Each model comes in either the ‘Tactical’ models which is a single stage, 200 lumen output, and comes with a momentary activation tailcap switch. Twist for constant on. The ‘Pro’ models feature a low output 15-lumen stage that comes on first, then can be clicked over to the 200 lumen high output stage with a clicky style tailcap switch.

SureFire releases their first AA battery flashlight.

SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, has released a new model to its popular Outdoorsman series of flashlights. Like other members of the Outdoorsman family, the new E2L AA features a dual-output, solid-state LED emitter; tailcap switching; a TIR lens, and a weather-resistant aerospace aluminum body that’s been Mil-Spec hard anodized. It differs, however, in its power source. The E2L AA, as its name suggests, runs on either two AA lithium or AA alkaline batteries-a first for SureFire.
The progression of LED technology has finally led to a reasonable output/runtime combination that measured up to SureFire standards. For nearly twenty years, SureFire was the only flashlight manufacturer to use lithium 123A batteries, the only sufficient compact power source to run the high-output incandescent lamps that made SureFire famous. However, 123A batteries aren’t as cheap as AA and are harder to find. AA batteries are still not as powerful as the 123A so the E2L AA Outdoorsman was designed primarily for outdoor use, but it’s built to the same standards as its battle-proven brothers.
Of course, a choice of batteries is not the only factor that makes the E2L AA a great fit for the Great Outdoors. Its power-regulated LED generates two output levels: 80 lumens of light on high (four times the light of a typical two-D-cell flashlight), perfect for searching or signaling, or three lumens on low, enough light for navigating, reading a map, or other close-range tasks without compromising night-adapted vision. The flashlight runs for nine hours on a set of AA lithium batteries at its high setting and 60 hours at its low setting, allowing a user to better manage runtime by switching between the two levels as needed. A Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens gathers the solid-state LED’s light and shapes it into a versatile beam with plenty of reach and enough surround light to accommodate peripheral vision. And to protect the E2L AA from the elements, its Mil-Spec hard-anodized aerospace aluminum body is sealed with O-rings and gaskets to keep out moisture and dirt.
The E2L AA retails for $159 and is available now.

The smooth, hard-anodized aluminum body takes it is easy on clothing and the two-way clip lets you carry the light head-up or head-down.
